About
Chinwendu Nwakudu received his B.S. in neuroscience and B.A. in psychology from the University of Chicago in 2020. While there, as well as for three years following graduation, he worked on research projects as a part of Dr. Alfredo J. Garcia III's lab. They researched the downstream effects of sleep apnea-derived intermittent hypoxia on synaptic plasticity and consequential cognitive impairment. They also investigated how repeated exposure to fentanyl leads to alterations in respiratory physiology and susceptibility to respiratory depression. Chinwendu's current interests lie in the interrelationship between the study of learning and memory and the study of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's. Beyond research, he is interested in creative writing and volleyball.
